The objectives of the ROE are to allow participants to understand the legal bases for use of force and their relationship to ROE and the definitions of key ROE terminology. Understand the key elements of various national ROE systems and how to use the Sanremo ROE Handbook to draft ROE for a wide range of single service, joint and multinational military operations. Have a general view of the relationship between law of armed conflict/ law of the sea and ROE. Understand common techniques in ROE briefing, training, investigation of incidents, payment of claims and public affairs management. Be able to apply ROE lessons-learned from previous operations.
