The course an intensive short course focusing on communicable disease epidemiology and control in Australia and other similar developed countries. It covers: the principles of communicable diseases and control, communicable disease surveillance in populations, and outbreak investigation; and the epidemiology and control of tuberculosis, influenza and respiratory infections, sexually transmitted and blood-bone infections (including HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis B/C), vaccine preventable diseases, food and water-bone disease and vector-borne disease (dengue). Additionally this course will consider aspects or biosecurity and biological warfare.
